Update Log
Updated 29 March 2001:
New Complaints
I have added two new complaints, still in progress. I figured that by posting them before they're quite finished, I will have some incentive to actually follow through. The first, "New" Urbanism, starts out as a semantic issue and develops into a superficial criticism of American urban design. Markets and Planning really just continues the same thought. I have not yet written the part about market forces yet; it's currently just a show-and-tell of good and bad design (with pictures from outer space). These two complaints may eventually be merged into one.
Updated 28 March 2001:
I am probably going to get in trouble for this one, but the constant barrage of public religiosity is really getting to me.
Never-before-seen condiments spotted at McDonald's.
Yet another section of 'Commentary'. Currently, it contains nothing other than the condiment sighting.
Updated 27 March 2001:
Some incredibly stupid candy I found recently.
Updated 26 March 2001:
'Complaints' has magically turned into 'Commentary'. Under 'Commentary' you will find 'Complaining', 'Politics', and 'Restaurant Reviews'.
There is a new restaurant review of sorts in there, of my experience at TGI Friday's recently.
I have also added a complaint about office supplies.
In the works is a complaint about urban design and zoning laws. Look for it in a couple of weeks.
I have some interesting information here about how people find Tinotopia.
Updated 12 March 2001:
I put forth a possible rational explanation for the Drug War.
Updated 28 February 2001:
An illustrated guide to what's on Tino's desk right now.
Updated 22 February 2001:
I have put up a page about my troubles with replacing the broken AC adapter on my laptop.
Updated 20 February 2001:
Not much is new lately. I am working on several rants at once, though; look for them in the next week or two.
Updated 6 February 2001:
I changed the graphics to blue from the orange Northern Lights ones. They were just getting on my nerves. I have been sick for the past few days, and am too enervated to write much of anything.
Updated 31 January 2001:
Design Change
In case you haven't been paying attention, the design of the site changes on a monthly basis. I was having a hard time coming up with anything graphic that just screamed, "February!", so I've gone with the Northern Lights. The background on the Tinotopia banner at the top of the front page, and the Slanty T device on the top of all the other pages is a photograph of the Northern Lights I took in Brno, the Czech Republic's second city. I'm not really happy with it, though, so I'll probably be changing it to something else soon.
Updated 23 January 2001:
I have added VIVA TV, fixed the Guardian weblog link, and done some tweaking.
I have added a new question, and done some general cleaning. Questions from readers are always welcome!
I have added another photograph of the workplace. It features me.
What the hell is the difference?
I have added a couple more charts explaining my statistics etc.
Updated 22 January 2001
I have updated the St. Louis page, mainly adding a photo and a link to a decent page on St. Louis architecture, but also with some thought of my own.
Updated 21 January 2001:
I have added some scanned floorplans (to replace my bad drawing) and a photograph to better illustrate my point.
I have expanded this complaint a bit.
I have added the other two cars to the cars page.
Updated 18 January 2001:
What multiculturalists and the Klan have in common
Updated 17 January 2001:
How to solve the whole problem of Washington, D.C.
I have expanded my anti-gun-control argument. I prove with figures that Canada is more violent than the United States, even though Canada has much stricter gun control laws.
I complain about how people are cheated of sunlight by stupid architects; I also touch on the California power crisis.
Updated 13 January 2001:
A complaint about what's wrong with the federal government's effective subsidy to sugar growers and ADM.
Updated 11 January 2001:
Tinotopia Mobile Edition(tm) has launched! Most of the valuable content you've come to expect from Tinotopia, but formatted to not be completely unusable on wireless mobile devices! Access Tinotopia Mobile Edition(tm) at http://tinotopia.com/m or read the press release.
Updated 9 January 2001:
Tinotopia.com front pages are now preserved for posterity. I change the image on the front page of this site (here) often, sometimes several times a week. I don't like to repeat the same image (at least not often), but some of these are just too good to disappear after such a short time.
The 2000 U.S. census figures are out, and I have added a few charts with these to illustrate my campaign finance argument.
Updated 8 January 2001:
I have added a 'family' page to the photo gallery, to replace one that was on an earlier Tino website.
I have added a rant on trunk release handles to the complaining section. It's not quite finished yet; I will be polishing it a bit in the coming days.
Updated 3 January 2001:
I have done minor tweaking throughout the site. I thought of a new topic for the complaints section the other day, but have now forgotten what it was. I will soon have a new complaint up about "new" urbanism and how it's not at all new -- inspired by an idiotic article on cnn.com.
Updated 24 December 2000:
I have added a page full of information on the Christmas festivities here at Casa de Tino. If I get around to it, the page should eventually even have videos of Nicole's and my Christmas Messages.
Updated 22 November 2000:
A few more comments on the election mess, where I generally point out that the GOP seem to not be acting in the best interests of the nation, even as they accuse the Dems of being selfish.
I have added an additional photograph.
Updated 19 November 2000:
I have added Jerry Pournelle to the reading list, after being re-reminded of his existence by Dan Bricklin's log. Pournelle is not everyone's favorite, but at least he's a competent writer. Dan's site has been added, as well. (He is also a competent writer.)
Updated 17 November 2000:
In which I discuss the merits of the Fairmont Hotel, San Jose. Still a work in progress. Hopefully the first in a series of reviews, because I know you're all just dying to know what I think.
Updated 14 November 2000:
Complaints resulting from a morning spent in the airport and in flight.
Updated 13 November 2000:
Rambling on how the Internet has changed my life
Updated to reflect the current mess
Updated with link to job-site-cam showing parking garage project
