Improper Use Of Quotation Marks Department

Real Cream Cheese

Ingredients:

Pasteurized cultured mile and cream, salt, stabilizers (xanthan, carob bean and/or guar gums).

Sounds like real cream cheese to me. The manufacturers must be some kind of solipsists, or in any case unsure that the cream cheese really exists. They still want $0.50 for this little tub, though.

I don’t know who decided this, but quotes are now used for emphasis. So that I see flyers for “Professional” Movers and ads for “Reliable” Mechanics.

Perhaps that cream cheese is quoting another cream cheese. Then, the problem is not misuse of quotation marks emphasis, but lack of proper citation.
